Reticulated water contains numerous additives, when you boil water these get left behind..solution to stained kette is to boil water with 1-2 tablespoons of citric acid. Not the kettle's fault.

Kettle review
Good kettle, but the bottom element gets dirty very quickly and being that it is clear it makes it look unsightly fairly quickly.
